GEM-SET BUTTERFLY BROOCH, CIRCA 1900 Oval, cushion and cabochon-cut rubies Oval and circular-cut sapphires Pearls, untested Rose-cut diamonds One diamond deficient Mounted in silver and gold Length 4.4cm Weight approx. 13.5g Footnotes: OVERALL CONDITION Light surface wear to unhallmarked metal (testing as 7-8ct gold and silver). Minor spot of solder to brooch fitting and spot of discolouration visible to reverse of abdomen. Scratched inventory mark to reverse of abdomen. Pin fitting secure. One diamond missing. GEMSTONES Rubies displaying a pinkish red hue, with some variation in tone. Sapphires displaying a medium blue hue. Inclusions visible under 10x magnification. Some small chips. Pearls display white bodycolour, purple and green overtones, moderate lustre and mostly even nacre, with small dimples visible under 10x magnification.
